# Register a new impact metric

`POST /api/admin/impact-metrics/register`

**Enterprise feature**

Registers a new impact metric by pushing 0-values.

## Request body

- RegisterImpactMetricSchema — Describes a new impact metric to register with a zero initial value.
  - `name` string, required — The metric name. Must start with a letter or underscore and contain only alphanumerics, underscores or colons.
  - `type` 'counter' | 'gauge' | 'histogram', required — The type of metric to register.

## Response `204`

This response has no body.

## Other responses

- `400` — The request data does not match what we expect.
- `401` — Authorization information is missing or invalid. Provide a valid API token as the `authorization` header, e.g. `authorization:*.*.my-admin-token`.
- `403` — The provided user credentials are valid, but the user does not have the necessary permissions to perform this operation
