# Danish population at the first day of the quarter (FOLK1A, quarterly)

`GET /api/v1/statistical-agencies/statbank-dk/population`

Danish population at the first day of the quarter from table FOLK1A. Returns the national total (OMRÅDE=000) across all sexes (KØN=TOT), all ages (ALDER=IALT), all marital statuses (CIVILSTAND=TOT). Quarterly since 2008K1.

## Query parameters

- `last_n` integer — Number of most-recent quarters to return.
- `lang` string — Label language: `en` (default) or `da`.

## Response `200`

Quarterly Danish population observations.

- EnvelopeStatBankDkPopulationPayload
  - `data` StatBankDkPopulationPayload, required — Danish population at the first day of the quarter (table FOLK1A, quarterly).
    - `table_id` string, required — Upstream StatBank table identifier (e.g. 'PRIS01', 'FOLK1A', 'NKN1').
    - `dataset` StatBankDkDatasetInfo, required — Metadata derived from the JSON-stat `dataset` envelope.
      - `label` string, nullable — Dataset label (e.g. 'Consumer price index by commodity group, unit, Indhold and time').
      - `source` string, nullable — Attribution string ('Statistics Denmark' or 'Danmarks Statistik' depending on lang).
      - `updated` string, nullable — Source publication timestamp (ISO 8601 UTC, matches meta.data_time).
      - `concept` string, nullable — Upstream StatBank table identifier (e.g. 'PRIS01', 'FOLK1A').
      - `decimals` integer, nullable — Number of decimal places used by the upstream decimal format.
      - `infofile` string, nullable — URL to the table's statistical documentation on dst.dk.
      - `dimension` string[] — Dimension codes in cartesian-product order (e.g. ['VAREGR','ENHED','ContentsCode','Tid']).
      - `size` integer[] — Dimension sizes parallel to `dimension`.
    - `filters` object — Filter values sent upstream (dimension code -> value or list of values). Time values are echoed in upstream K-form (e.g. '2025K4').
    - `observations` StatBankDkObservation[] — Tidy observation rows, sorted by time ascending when a time dimension is present.
      - `time` string, nullable — Observation period in ISO form. Monthly YYYY-MM, quarterly YYYY-Q#, daily YYYY-MM-DD, annual YYYY.
      - `period` string, nullable — Upstream StatBank time code verbatim (e.g. 2026M03, 2025K4, 2026).
      - `value` number, nullable — Observation value. Null if the cell is missing or suppressed upstream.
      - `status` string, nullable — Upstream status flag for the cell (e.g. '..' for suppressed, 'e' for estimate). Omitted when absent.
    - `row_count` integer, required — Number of observation rows.
  - `meta` SugraMeta, required — Metadata attached to every /api/v1/* response envelope.
    - `endpoint` string, required — Requested endpoint path.
    - `data_time` string, required — ISO 8601 UTC timestamp of the source data, not of the request.
    - `response_time` string, required — ISO 8601 UTC timestamp when this response was produced.
    - `provider` string, required — API name and version.
    - `source` string, nullable — Identifier of the primary upstream source used for this response.
    - `attribution` string, nullable — Human-readable attribution mandated by an upstream source (e.g. a securities regulator or self-regulatory organization). Present only on responses whose source requires the owner and source to be clearly identified. Do not remove or alter it when using the response.
    - `fallback_used` boolean, nullable — True when the primary source failed and a fallback produced the data.
    - `fallback_chain` string[], nullable — Ordered list of sources attempted, in the order they were tried.
    - `cached` boolean, nullable — True when this response was served from the internal cache.
    - `stale` boolean, nullable — True when the cached response was returned after the upstream rate-limited or errored. Clients can use this to detect degraded data.

## Other responses

- `401` — Missing or invalid `x-api-key` header. JSON body with a stable `code` distinguishing `missing_api_key` (no header sent) from `invalid_api_key` (header sent, key not accepted); any other 401 source carries the generic `unauthorized` with its detail as `reason`. Plus `hint`. `plan` is always null on 401 - an unauthenticated request has no plan; quota exhaustion is 429, not 401.
- `422` — Validation Error
- `429` — Daily rate limit exceeded. Check `X-RateLimit-Reset` for the next window.
- `503` — Upstream source is temporarily unavailable. Retry after a short delay.
