# Covered options underlier universe + per-symbol status

`GET /api/v1/options/snapshot/universe`

List of US underliers covered by the Sugra Finance options daily snapshot. Each entry carries the ticker, name, type (stock / etf / index / volatility), asset_class (drives Greeks-source selection), category, options-volume rank, and a status flag (``active`` / ``delisted_candidate`` / ``removed``). The universe refreshes quarterly; the daily snapshot cycle populates ``last_snapshot_date`` and ``snapshot_count`` per symbol from the latest manifest. Returns 503 when the upstream universe.json blob has not been published yet.

      - `symbol` string, required — Underlier ticker (uppercase).
      - `name` string, required — Underlier full name.
      - `type` string, required — One of: stock, etf, index, volatility.
      - `asset_class` string, nullable — Greeks-model selector: equity, bond, commodity, currency, volatility.
      - `category` string, nullable — Sector / category label.
      - `options_volume_rank` integer, nullable — Rank by options volume at universe-bump time (1 = highest).
      - `status` string, required — One of: active, delisted_candidate, removed.
      - `last_snapshot_date` string, nullable — ISO date of the most recent successful snapshot, or null when none yet.
      - `snapshot_count` integer, nullable — Total dated snapshots currently in the retention window.
      - `data_source` string, nullable — Optional override for non-default sources (e.g. exchange-direct ingest for VIX).
      - `reason` string, nullable — Present when ``status='skipped'``. Indicates why this underlier is not being refreshed. The token ``yahoo_disabled`` means the legacy commercial equity-options ingest path was intentionally disabled by DATA-N1 and the existing per-symbol snapshot blob is stale. Clients should treat blobs for skipped symbols as last-known data and read ``snapshot_taken_at`` to determine staleness.
    - `total` integer, required — Number of entries in ``underliers``.
    - `refreshed_at` string, required — ISO timestamp of the universe payload generation.
    - `universe_version` string, nullable — Universe version string (e.g. '2026-Q2').
  - `meta` SugraMeta, required — Metadata attached to every /api/v1/* response envelope.
    - `endpoint` string, required — Requested endpoint path.
    - `data_time` string, required — ISO 8601 UTC timestamp of the source data, not of the request.
    - `response_time` string, required — ISO 8601 UTC timestamp when this response was produced.
    - `provider` string, required — API name and version.
    - `source` string, nullable — Identifier of the primary upstream source used for this response.
    - `attribution` string, nullable — Human-readable attribution mandated by an upstream source (e.g. a securities regulator or self-regulatory organization). Present only on responses whose source requires the owner and source to be clearly identified. Do not remove or alter it when using the response.
    - `fallback_used` boolean, nullable — True when the primary source failed and a fallback produced the data.
    - `fallback_chain` string[], nullable — Ordered list of sources attempted, in the order they were tried.
    - `cached` boolean, nullable — True when this response was served from the internal cache.
    - `stale` boolean, nullable — True when the cached response was returned after the upstream rate-limited or errored. Clients can use this to detect degraded data.

## Other responses

- `401` — Missing or invalid `x-api-key` header.
- `429` — Daily rate limit exceeded. Check `X-RateLimit-Reset` for the next window.
- `503` — Upstream source is temporarily unavailable. Retry after a short delay.
