# Search news

`GET /api/v1/news/search`

Keyword search over the current 42-feed world-news corpus. All query terms must be present as whole words in the headline or description; wrap the query in double quotes for a literal phrase. This is a rolling window of what the feeds currently publish, not an archive, so a story that has aged out of every feed is gone. For company or ticker news use /api/v2/quotes/{symbol}/news, and for free-text search over the wider global press use /api/v1/gdelt/articles.

## Query parameters

- `q` string, required — Free-text search query. All terms must be present as whole words; double-quote the query for a literal phrase.
- `limit` integer — Maximum number of records to return.
- `offset` integer — Number of matches to skip, for paging past the limit.

    - `fallback_chain` string[], nullable — Ordered list of sources attempted, in the order they were tried.
    - `cached` boolean, nullable — True when this response was served from the internal cache.
    - `stale` boolean, nullable — True when the cached response was returned after the upstream rate-limited or errored. Clients can use this to detect degraded data.
