# Transfer Playback

`PUT /me/player`

Transfer playback to a new device and determine if it should start playing.

## Request body

- object
  - `device_ids` string[], required — A JSON array containing the ID of the device on which playback should be started/transferred.<br/>For example:`{device_ids:["74ASZWbe4lXaubB36ztrGX"]}`<br/>_**Note**: Although an array is accepted, only a single device_id is currently supported. Supplying more than one will return `400 Bad Request`_

## Response `204`

Playback transferred

## Other responses

- `401` — Bad or expired token. This can happen if the user revoked a token or the access token has expired. You should re-authenticate the user.
- `403` — Bad OAuth request (wrong consumer key, bad nonce, expired timestamp...). Unfortunately, re-authenticating the user won't help here.
- `429` — The app has exceeded its rate limits.
