# Get an Audiobook

`GET /audiobooks/{id}`

Get Spotify catalog information for a single audiobook.<br />
**Note: Audiobooks are only available for the US, UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia markets.**

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required — The [Spotify ID](/documentation/web-api/#spotify-uris-and-ids) for the audiobook.

## Query parameters

- `market` string — An [ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2). If a country code is specified, only content that is available in that market will be returned.<br/> If a valid user access token is specified in the request header, the country associated with the user account will take priority over this parameter.<br/> _**Note**: If neither market or user country are provided, the content is considered unavailable for the client._<br/> Users can view the country that is associated with their account in the [account settings](https://www.spotify.com/se/account/overview/).

  - `authors` AuthorObject[], required — The author(s) for the audiobook.
    - `name` string — The name of the author.
  - `available_markets` string[], required — A list of the countries in which the audiobook can be played, identified by their [ISO 3166-1 alpha-2](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2) code.
  - `copyrights` CopyrightObject[], required — The copyright statements of the audiobook.
    - `text` string — The copyright text for this content.
    - `type` string — The type of copyright: `C` = the copyright, `P` = the sound recording (performance) copyright.
  - `description` string, required — A description of the audiobook. HTML tags are stripped away from this field, use `html_description` field in case HTML tags are needed.
  - `edition` string — The edition of the audiobook.
  - `explicit` boolean, required — Whether or not the audiobook has explicit content (true = yes it does; false = no it does not OR unknown).
  - `external_urls` ExternalUrlObject, required
    - `spotify` string — The [Spotify URL](/documentation/web-api/#spotify-uris-and-ids) for the object.
  - `href` string, required — A link to the Web API endpoint providing full details of the audiobook.
  - `html_description` string, required — A description of the audiobook. This field may contain HTML tags.
  - `id` string, required — The [Spotify ID](/documentation/web-api/#spotify-uris-and-ids) for the audiobook.
  - `images` ImageObject[], required — The cover art for the audiobook in various sizes, widest first.
    - `height` integer, nullable, required — The image height in pixels.
    - `url` string, required — The source URL of the image.
    - `width` integer, nullable, required — The image width in pixels.
  - `languages` string[], required — A list of the languages used in the audiobook, identified by their [ISO 639](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_639) code.
  - `media_type` string, required — The media type of the audiobook.
  - `name` string, required — The name of the audiobook.
  - `narrators` NarratorObject[], required — The narrator(s) for the audiobook.
    - `name` string — The name of the Narrator.
  - `publisher` string, required — The publisher of the audiobook.
  - `total_chapters` integer, required — The number of chapters in this audiobook.
  - `type` 'audiobook', required — The object type.
  - `uri` string, required — The [Spotify URI](/documentation/web-api/#spotify-uris-and-ids) for the audiobook.
  - `chapters` PagingSimplifiedChapterObject, required
    - `href` string, required — A link to the Web API endpoint returning the full result of the request
    - `limit` integer, required — The maximum number of items in the response (as set in the query or by default).
    - `next` string, nullable, required — URL to the next page of items. ( `null` if none)
    - `offset` integer, required — The offset of the items returned (as set in the query or by default)
    - `previous` string, nullable, required — URL to the previous page of items. ( `null` if none)
    - `total` integer, required — The total number of items available to return.
    - `items` SimplifiedChapterObject[], required
      - `audio_preview_url` string, required — A URL to a 30 second preview (MP3 format) of the episode. `null` if not available.
      - `available_markets` string[] — A list of the countries in which the chapter can be played, identified by their [ISO 3166-1 alpha-2](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2) code.
      - `chapter_number` integer, required — The number of the chapter
      - `description` string, required — A description of the episode. HTML tags are stripped away from this field, use `html_description` field in case HTML tags are needed.
      - `duration_ms` integer, required — The episode length in milliseconds.
      - `explicit` boolean, required — Whether or not the episode has explicit content (true = yes it does; false = no it does not OR unknown).

      - `release_date` string, required — The date the episode was first released, for example `"1981-12-15"`. Depending on the precision, it might be shown as `"1981"` or `"1981-12"`.
      - `release_date_precision` 'year' | 'month' | 'day', required — The precision with which `release_date` value is known.
      - `restrictions` ChapterRestrictionObject
        - `reason` string — The reason for the restriction. Supported values: - `market` - The content item is not available in the given market. - `product` - The content item is not available for the user's subscription type. - `explicit` - The content item is explicit and the user's account is set to not play explicit content. - `payment_required` - Payment is required to play the content item. Additional reasons may be added in the future. **Note**: If you use this field, make sure that your application safely handles unknown values.
      - `resume_point` ResumePointObject, required
        - `fully_played` boolean — Whether or not the episode has been fully played by the user.
        - `resume_position_ms` integer — The user's most recent position in the episode in milliseconds.
      - `type` 'episode', required — The object type.
      - `uri` string, required — The [Spotify URI](/documentation/web-api/#spotify-uris-and-ids) for the episode.

## Other responses

- `401` — Bad or expired token. This can happen if the user revoked a token or the access token has expired. You should re-authenticate the user.
- `403` — Bad OAuth request (wrong consumer key, bad nonce, expired timestamp...). Unfortunately, re-authenticating the user won't help here.
- `429` — The app has exceeded its rate limits.
