# Create new material group

`POST /materialgroups`

## Request body

- MaterialCreateMaterialGroupRequest
  - `name` string, required — The name of the material group.
  - `metadata` object
  - `teamGroupId` integer — The material group will be assigned to this team group id. This field can only be used by support group members.

## Response `201`

Material group created successfully

- MaterialMaterialGroupResponse
  - `materialGroupId` string, required — The ID of the material group.
  - `parentId` string — The ID of parent of the material group.
  - `name` string, required — The name of the material group.
  - `groupType` 'SIMSCALE_DEFAULT' | 'USER_CUSTOM' | 'COMPANY_CUSTOM' — Indicates the owner of the material group. Default groups are provided and managed by SimScale. Custom groups can belong to a user or to a company/team.
  - `createdAt` string, date-time, required — The time the material group was created.
  - `modifiedAt` string, date-time, required — The time the material group was modified.
  - `metadata` object — Material group metadata.
