# Update material group information

`PUT /materialgroups/{materialGroupId}`

## Path parameters

- `materialGroupId` string, required

## Request body

- MaterialUpdateMaterialGroupRequest
  - `name` string — The name of the material group.
  - `metadata` object

## Response `200`

Material group was successfully updated

- MaterialMaterialGroupResponse
  - `materialGroupId` string, required — The ID of the material group.
  - `parentId` string — The ID of parent of the material group.
  - `name` string, required — The name of the material group.
  - `groupType` 'SIMSCALE_DEFAULT' | 'USER_CUSTOM' | 'COMPANY_CUSTOM' — Indicates the owner of the material group. Default groups are provided and managed by SimScale. Custom groups can belong to a user or to a company/team.
  - `createdAt` string, date-time, required — The time the material group was created.
  - `modifiedAt` string, date-time, required — The time the material group was modified.
  - `metadata` object — Material group metadata.

## Other responses

- `404` — Not found.
