# GET /config/preferredParent

`GET /config/preferredParent`

Return the preferred parent of a specific FAN device. This method may only be issued to a Border Router.

## Query parameters

- `ipAddress` string, required

## Response `200`

The IPv6 address of the preferred parent, formatted per RFC 5952.

- `400` — Device is not a Border Router.
- `default` — Unknown error occurred
