# Generate hash sums

`POST /operations/hashsum`

Produces a hash sum listing for files under the given path using the requested hash algorithm.

## Query parameters

- `fs` string
- `hashType` string
- `download` boolean
- `base64` boolean
- `_group` string
- `_async` boolean

## Headers

- `Prefer` 'respond-async'

## Request body

- OperationsHashsumRequest
  - `fs` string — Remote name or path to hash, such as `drive:` or `/`.
  - `hashType` string — Hash algorithm to use, e.g. `md5`, `sha1`, or another supported name.
  - `download` boolean — Set to true to force reading the data instead of using remote checksums.
  - `base64` boolean — Set to true to emit hash values in base64 rather than hexadecimal.
  - `_group` string — Assign the request to a custom stats group.
  - `_async` boolean — Run the command asynchronously. Returns a job id immediately.

## Response `200`

Hash algorithm used and the ordered hash lines emitted by `operations/hashsum`.

- `202` — Request accepted for async processing. Poll /job/status with the returned jobid.
