# Get source details

`GET /sources/{source_id}`

Gets detailed information about a specific source. This endpoint currently supports local\_file source IDs. Crawl source IDs returned by /search or GET /contents/{id} are separate IDs and are not accepted here; use GET /sources/{source\_id}/raw to download the stored crawl file content.

  - `id` string, required — Source ID (file ID)
  - `source_group_id` string, required — Parent source group ID
  - `name` string, required — Name of the source (file name)
  - `file_type` 'html' | 'pdf' | 'ppt' | 'pptx' | 'pptm' | 'doc' | 'docx' | 'docm' | 'xls' | 'xlsx' | 'xlsm' | 'md' | 'txt' | 'jsonl' | 'png' | 'jpg' | 'webp' | 'heic' | 'heif' | 'wav' | 'mp3' | 'aiff' | 'aac' | 'm4a' | 'ogg' | 'flac' | 'mp4' | 'mpg' | 'mov' | 'avi' | 'flv' | 'webm' | 'wmv' | '3gp' | 'notion_page' — The type of the source file
  - `file_size` integer — File size in bytes
  - `metadata` Metadata
    - `records` MetadataRecord[] — List of metadata records. A patch may contain up to 40 items; the merged result is capped at 20.
      - `key` string, required — Metadata key (max 20 characters)
      - `val` unknown, required
      - `type` 'string' | 'integer' | 'float' | 'date' | 'datetime' — Data type of the metadata value

- `401` — Unauthorized
- `404` — Not Found
- `500` — Internal Server Error
