# Delete a message

`DELETE /v1/messages/{messageId}`

Delete a message entity from the Novu platform by **messageId**. 
    This action is irreversible. **messageId** is required and of mongodbId type.

## Path parameters

- `messageId` string, required

## Response `200`

OK

- DeleteMessageResponseDto
  - `acknowledged` boolean, required — A boolean stating the success of the action
  - `status` 'deleted', required — The status enum for the performed action

- `400` — Bad Request
- `401` — Unauthorized
- `403` — Forbidden
- `404` — Not Found
- `405` — Method Not Allowed
- `409` — Conflict
- `413` — Payload Too Large
- `414` — URI Too Long
- `415` — Unsupported Media Type
- `422` — Unprocessable Entity
- `429` — The client has sent too many requests in a given amount of time.
- `500` — Internal Server Error
- `503` — The server is currently unable to handle the request due to a temporary overload or scheduled maintenance, which will likely be alleviated after some delay.
