# Get environment variable

`GET /v1/environment-variables/{variableKey}`

Returns a single environment variable by key. Secret values are masked.

    - `value` string, required — Value is masked (••••••••) for secret variables
  - `createdAt` string, required
  - `updatedAt` string, required

## Other responses

- `400` — Bad Request
- `401` — Unauthorized
- `403` — Forbidden
- `404` — Environment variable not found.
- `405` — Method Not Allowed
- `409` — Conflict
- `413` — Payload Too Large
- `414` — URI Too Long
- `415` — Unsupported Media Type
- `422` — Unprocessable Entity
- `429` — The client has sent too many requests in a given amount of time.
- `500` — Internal Server Error
- `503` — The server is currently unable to handle the request due to a temporary overload or scheduled maintenance, which will likely be alleviated after some delay.
