# Update Cloud Device

`PATCH /v5/devices/{device_id}`

Update a cloud device's nickname or default status.

## Path parameters

- `device_id` string, required

## Request body

- UpdateDeviceRequest — Request to update a cloud device
  - `nickname` string — New nickname for the device
  - `default` boolean — Whether to set this device as the default cloud device for the merchant

## Response `200`

Success

- DeviceResponse — Response containing cloud device data
  - `object` 'device', required — String representing the object's type. Always 'device' for device objects.
  - `id` string, required — Unique identifier for the device
  - `device_nickname` string, nullable — Nickname assigned to the device
  - `make` string, nullable — Device manufacturer
  - `model` string, nullable — Device model
  - `serial_number` string, nullable — Device serial number
  - `registration_status` 'registered' | 'deregistered', required — Current registration status of the device
  - `last_transaction_date` string, date-time, nullable — Date and time of the last transaction processed on this device
  - `date_registered` string, date-time, nullable — Date and time when the device was registered
  - `date_deregistered` string, date-time, nullable — Date and time when the device was deregistered
  - `connection_status` boolean, nullable — Whether the device is currently connected
  - `last_connected_date` string, date-time, nullable — Date and time when the device was last connected
  - `last_disconnected_date` string, date-time, nullable — Date and time when the device was last disconnected
  - `battery_info` object, nullable — Battery information (only included when current_status=true)
  - `wifi_info` object, nullable — WiFi information (only included when current_status=true)
