# Update a customer

`PATCH /accounts/customers/{customerId}`

## Path parameters

- `customerId` string, required

## Request body

- CustomerUpdateRequest20230401
  - `dateOfBirth` string — Customer's date of birth in ISO format (yyyy-MM-dd)
  - `email` string, email — Customer's email
  - `externalCustomerId` string — Customer's external id
  - `name` CustomerName
    - `firstName` string — Your customer's first name
    - `lastName` string — Your customer's last name
  - `phone` string — Customer's phone number
  - `status` string

## Response `200`

Customer is updated

## Other responses

- `400` — Bad Request : check request values and format
- `401` — Invalid credentials
- `403` — Unauthenticated or authenticated with insufficient access
- `404` — Customer cannot be found
- `500` — Server Error. This applies to all 5xx errors, including but not limited to 500, 501, 502, 503, and 504 errors. You should treat all of these errors the same.
