# List chat sessions

`GET /chat-sessions`

Chat sessions visible to the caller (personal + project-shared merged). Top-level rather than project-nested because `projectId` is an optional filter, not an owning scope.

## Query parameters

- `projectId` string
- `status` 'active' | 'archived'
- `limit` integer
- `before` string

## Response `200`

One page of chat sessions, newest activity first.

    - `id` string, required
    - `title` string, nullable
    - `status` string, nullable
    - `projectId` string, nullable
    - `visibility` string, nullable — `private` or `project`.
    - `lastActivityAt` number, nullable — Epoch milliseconds.
    - `createdAt` number, nullable
    - `isPinned` boolean
    - `isUnread` boolean
  - `nextCursor` string — Pass as `before` to fetch the next page. Omitted on the last page.

## Other responses

- `401` — Missing, invalid, revoked, or orphaned key (`UNAUTHORIZED`) — or the **target MCP server** needs an OAuth grant (`OAUTH_REQUIRED`), which is a property of the server, not your key.
- `403` — Key is valid but not allowed to do this.
- `429` — Per-key rate limit exceeded (60 requests/minute sustained, bursts up to 10). Honor `Retry-After` and back off with jitter.
- `500` — Something failed on MCPJam's side.
- `502` — Could not connect to the target MCP server.
