# Delete Status

`DELETE /v2/statuses/{statusID}`

Deletes a custom status and reassigns all tasks using it. Default statuses (0, 1, 2) cannot be deleted.

**IMPORTANT NOTE:** Deleting task statuses that are currently in use will result in all tasks assigned that status being reset to status 0 (open).

**Path Parameters:**

- `statusID` (number, required) - ID of the status to delete
    

**Query Parameters:**

- `replacementStatusID` (number, required) - ID of the status to assign to tasks currently using the deleted status. Can be a default status (0, 1, 2) or another custom status.
    

**Validation:**

- Cannot delete default statuses (IDs 0, 1, 2)
    
- Both statusID and replacementStatusID must exist
    
- replacementStatusID must differ from statusID
    
- replacementStatusID must be valid for the customer

- `replacementStatusID` integer

## Response `204`

204 No Content - Success

## Other responses

- `400` — The request was malformed — either invalid JSON syntax or a validation failure (missing required field, wrong type, etc.).
- `401` — No `Authorization` header was provided on the request.
- `403` — The supplied credentials are invalid, the customer account is inactive, or the credentials do not have permission to perform this action.
- `404` — The referenced resource does not exist or is not visible to the authenticated customer.
- `429` — The per-minute or per-hour rate limit for this credential and method has been exhausted. Inspect the `X-RateLimit-*` headers to determine when to retry.
- `500` — An unhandled server-side error. The body message is generic (`System unavailable...`) when the underlying cause is a database fault; otherwise it reflects the raised error.
