# Update folder.

`PUT /folders/{folder_uid}`

Use: /apis/folder.grafana.app/v1/namespaces/{ns}/folders/{folder_uid}

## Path parameters

- `folder_uid` string, required

## Request body

- UpdateFolderCommand — UpdateFolderCommand captures the information required by the folder service to update a folder. Use Move to update a folder's parent folder.
  - `description` string — NewDescription it's an optional parameter used for overriding the existing folder description
  - `overwrite` boolean — Overwrite only used by the legacy folder implementation
  - `title` string — NewTitle it's an optional parameter used for overriding the existing folder title
  - `version` integer — Version only used by the legacy folder implementation

## Other responses

- `400` — BadRequestError is returned when the request is invalid and it cannot be processed.
- `401` — UnauthorizedError is returned when the request is not authenticated.
- `403` — ForbiddenError is returned if the user/token has insufficient permissions to access the requested resource.
- `404` — NotFoundError is returned when the requested resource was not found.
- `409` — ConflictError
- `500` — InternalServerError is a general error indicating something went wrong internally.
