# Start a review.

`POST /authoring/v1/review`

Use the /review endpoint to start a review. Currently, only Assets and Contents can be reviewed.
This endpoint updates the status of the items in bulk. Items with the updated status are added in the review model. Check whether the items were successfully added to the review model from the items field in the returned API representation of review model. You can identify the items that failed to update or invalid items by checking the item IDs that are listed in the response header.

## Request body

- object
  - `name` string, required — The name of the review.
  - `targetDate` string, date-time — Optional. Set a target date for when the review is due and must end.
  - `approvers` object[] — Approvers' user ID for the review.
    - `id` string
  - `items` object[] — Provide the ID of the items that you want to submit for review. The unique ID (uid) is the items classification and the ID combined to create an ID that is unique across all items in Content.
    - `id` string
    - `classification` 'asset' | 'content' — The classification of the item.

## Response `201`

Successfully created a review.

  - `rev` string, required — The current revision of the review.
  - `classification` string — The review's classification.
  - `name` string, required — The name of the review.

  - `status` 'active' | 'complete' — The status of a review. The initial status of a review is active, changed to complete when it is ended.
  - `approvalStatus` 'approved' | 'not-approved' — The approval status of a review. The initial status of a review is not-approved, changed to approved when all items has been approved.
  - `completed` string, date-time — The completed date of this review in ISO 8601 with the format YYYY-MM-DDTHH:mm:ss.sssZ.
  - `approvers` object[] — Approvers' user ID for the review.

    - `user` object — A user object with user ID.

    - `date` string, date-time — The approved date in ISO 8601 with the format YYYY-MM-DDTHH:mm:ss.sssZ.
    - `items` object[] — The ID of the items that been approved in a approval.

      - `classification` 'asset' | 'content' — The classification of the item.
  - `rejections` object[] — Rejections for a review.
    - `user` object — A user object with user ID.
      - `id` string
    - `date` string, date-time — The approved date in ISO 8601 with the format YYYY-MM-DDTHH:mm:ss.sssZ.
    - `items` object[] — The ID of the items that been rejected in a rejection.
      - `id` string
      - `classification` 'asset' | 'content' — The classification of the item.

  - `lastModified` string, date-time — The last modified date of this review in ISO 8601 with the format YYYY-MM-DDTHH:mm:ss.sssZ.
  - `lastModifierId` string — The ID of the user that last modified the review.
  - `created` string, date-time — The created date of this review in ISO 8601 with the format YYYY-MM-DDTHH:mm:ss.sssZ.
  - `creatorId` string — The ID of the creator of the review.

## Other responses

- `400` — The body parameter is empty or has an invalid input. Provide valid input values to create a review.
- `429` — Too Many Requests, the server has reached a limit, the request must be sent again at a later time.
- `503` — Unable to create the review as the service is unavailable. Try again later.
- `default` — Unexpected error.
