# Retrieve an existing rendition.

`GET /authoring/v1/renditions/{id}`

Use this endpoint to retrieve an existing rendition from the database. Access the rendition applied through the media link. The generated rendition link will depend on the parameters provided. The scale parameter is required to resize. LocationX, locationY, width and height parameters are required to crop.<br />User roles: admin, manager, editor, viewer

Successfully retrieved the rendition.

  - `locationX` integer — Offset from the top left corner in the x dimension for where the crop will begin
  - `locationY` integer — Offset from the top left corner in the y dimension for where the crop will begin
  - `width` integer — Width of the crop
  - `height` integer — Height of the crop
  - `scale` number — Size image will be scaled to
  - `asset` object, required
    - `id` string, required — The id of the asset this rendition is for
  - `id` string, required — The id of the rendition
  - `rev` string, required — The revision of the rendition
  - `classification` 'rendition', required — The classification of a rendition is always "rendition"
  - `fileName` string, required — File name of the resource
  - `mediaType` string, required — Media type of the resource
  - `resource` string, required — the id of the uploaded resource this rendition is for
  - `links` object
    - `self` object, required — Relative link to the rendition
      - `href` string, required — Relative url
    - `media` object, required — Relative link to the rendition applied to the resource
      - `href` string, required — Relative url
    - `asset` object, required — Relative link to the asset
      - `href` string, required — Relative url
    - `resource` object, required — Relative link to the rendition
      - `href` string, required — Relative url

## Other responses

- `404` — The rendition with the provided ID was not found.
- `429` — Too Many Requests, the server has reached a limit, the request must be sent again at a later time.
- `503` — Connection failed to datastore.
- `default` — Unexpected error.
