Create or update an environment secret

Creates or updates an environment secret with an encrypted value. Encrypt your secret using LibSodium. For more information, see "Encrypting secrets for the REST API."

You must authenticate using an access token with the repo scope to use this endpoint. GitHub Apps must have the secrets repository permission to use this endpoint. Authenticated users must have collaborator access to a repository to create, update, or read secrets.

put/repositories/{repository_id}/environments/{environment_name}/secrets/{secret_name}

Path parameters

repository_idinteger required

The unique identifier of the repository.

environment_namestring required

The name of the environment. The name must be URL encoded. For example, any slashes in the name must be replaced with %2F.

secret_namestring required

The name of the secret.

Request body

encrypted_valuestring required

Value for your secret, encrypted with LibSodium using the public key retrieved from the Get an environment public key endpoint.

key_idstring required

ID of the key you used to encrypt the secret.
