# Create a new cost center

`POST /enterprises/{enterprise}/settings/billing/cost-centers`

Creates a new cost center for an enterprise. The authenticated user must be an enterprise admin.

## Path parameters

- `enterprise` string, required

## Request body

- object
  - `name` string, required — The name of the cost center (max length 255 characters)
  - `ai_credit_pool_enabled` boolean — Whether the cost center draws from the AI credit pool. This can only be enabled for cost centers that contain only user or team resources. - `false` — no cap; the cost center draws from the shared enterprise pool. - `true` — the cost center is capped at an amount derived from its members' license entitlements.

Cost center created successfully

- object
  - `id` string — Unique identifier for the cost center
  - `name` string — Name of the cost center
  - `azure_subscription` string, nullable — Azure subscription ID associated with the cost center. Only present for cost centers linked to Azure subscriptions.
  - `state` 'active' | 'deleted' — State of the cost center.
  - `resources` object[] — List of resources assigned to this cost center
    - `type` string — Type of resource (User, Org, or Repo)
    - `name` string — Name/login of the resource
  - `ai_credit_pool_enabled` boolean — Whether the cost center draws from the AI credit pool (capped from member license entitlements).
  - `ai_credit_pool_state` object — Read-only cap-budget projection for the cost center. Only present when the cost center draws from the AI credit pool.
    - `target_amount` number, nullable — The AI credit pool cap target amount, in AI Credits. Null when the cap budget has not been materialized yet.
    - `current_amount` number, nullable — The current-month applied amount against the AI credit pool cap, in AI Credits. Null when the cap budget has not been materialized yet.

- `409` — Conflict
- `500` — Internal server error
