# Delete a user from Enterprise

`DELETE /authn2/v0/tenant/{enterprise_id}/user/{user_id}/`

Removes a specific user from the tenant, revoking their access to all Esper resources within that enterprise.

Use this endpoint to deprovision a user when they leave the organization, change roles outside the tenant, or have their access revoked as part of an access audit.
About Delete a User from Enterprise
This is the current, supported endpoint for removing a user from an Esper tenant. It operates on the authn_user_id (UUID format) rather than the integer id — use GET /authn2/v1/users/ to retrieve the correct identifier. Deletion is immediate and permanent; the user will lose all access to the enterprise upon removal. Returns HTTP 204 on success with no response body. This endpoint replaces the deprecated DELETE /user/{user_id}/.

**Key Parameters**

enterprise_id — the UUID of the tenant to remove the user from

user_id — the UUID-format authn_user_id of the user to remove; obtain from GET /authn2/v1/users/

**Common Use Cases**

Offboarding a team member who has left the organization

Removing a user whose access was granted in error

Cleaning up inactive or unverified accounts as part of a periodic access audit

**Best Practices**

Use GET /authn2/v1/users/ to confirm the correct authn_user_id before calling — deleting the wrong user is not reversible

Verify the user has no active device operations or pending commands in flight before removing them

If the user should retain access in a reduced capacity rather than being fully removed, use PUT /authz2/v1/users/{user_id} to downgrade their role instead

**Workflow**

Call GET /authn2/v1/users/ to retrieve the target user's authn_user_id

Call DELETE /authn2/v0/tenant/{enterprise_id}/user/{user_id}/ with the correct UUIDs

Confirm the 204 response indicating successful removal

If re-access is needed in future, re-invite the user via POST /authn2/v0/tenant/{enterprise_id}/invite
