# Create a New Check

`POST /v2/uptime/checks`

To create an Uptime check, send a POST request to `/v2/uptime/checks` specifying the attributes
in the table below in the JSON body.

## Request body

- CheckUpdatable
  - `name` string — A human-friendly display name.
  - `type` 'ping' | 'http' | 'https' — The type of health check to perform.
  - `target` string, url — The endpoint to perform healthchecks on.
  - `regions` string[] — An array containing the selected regions to perform healthchecks from.
  - `enabled` boolean — A boolean value indicating whether the check is enabled/disabled.

## Response `201`

The response will be a JSON object with a key called `check`. The value of this will be an object that contains the standard attributes associated with an uptime check.

    - `id` string, uuid — A unique ID that can be used to identify and reference the check.
    - `name` string — A human-friendly display name.
    - `type` 'ping' | 'http' | 'https' — The type of health check to perform.
    - `target` string, url — The endpoint to perform healthchecks on.
    - `regions` string[] — An array containing the selected regions to perform healthchecks from.
    - `enabled` boolean — A boolean value indicating whether the check is enabled/disabled.

## Other responses

- `401` — Authentication failed due to invalid credentials.
- `429` — The API rate limit has been exceeded.
- `500` — There was a server error.
- `default` — There was an unexpected error.
