# Delete a Load Balancer

`DELETE /v2/load_balancers/{lb_id}`

To delete a load balancer instance, disassociating any Droplets assigned to it
and removing it from your account, send a DELETE request to
`/v2/load_balancers/$LOAD_BALANCER_ID`.

A successful request will receive a 204 status code with no body in response.
This indicates that the request was processed successfully.

## Path parameters

- `lb_id` string, required

## Response `204`

The action was successful and the response body is empty.

## Other responses

- `401` — Authentication failed due to invalid credentials.
- `404` — The resource was not found.
- `429` — The API rate limit has been exceeded.
- `500` — There was a server error.
- `default` — There was an unexpected error.
