# Remove email account messages by mailbox GUID

`GET /expunge_messages_for_mailbox_guid`

This function removes mail messages from a cPanel account.

**Important:**

  When you disable the [Receive Mail role](https://docs.cpanel.net/knowledge-base/general-systems-administration/how-to-use-server-profiles/#roles), the system **disables** this function.

## Query parameters

- `account` string, required
- `mailbox_guid` string, required
- `query` string, required

## Response `200`

HTTP Request was successful.

- object
  - `metadata` object
    - `command` string — The method name called.
    - `reason` string — The reason the API function failed when the `metadata.result` field is `0`. This field may display a success message when a function succeeds.
    - `result` 0 | 1 — * `1` - Success * `0` - Failed. Check the reason field for more details.
    - `version` integer — The version of the API function.
