# Update states to credential

`PATCH /credentialing-workflows/{workflowId}/states-to-credential`

Updates the states to credential for a credentialing workflow. Accepts an array of state codes (e.g., ["CA", "NY", "TX"]). An empty array [] will unset/remove the states to credential field.

## Request body

- UpdateStatesToCredentialRequest — Request to update states to credential in credentialing workflow. Empty array unsets the field.
  - `statesToCredential` string[], required — The states to credential array. Empty array removes/unsets the states to credential.
  - `reason` string — Reason for the states to credential change

Successfully updated the states to credential

- `403` — Forbidden - User does not have required permissions
- `404` — Credentialing workflow not found
