# Get employee details

`GET /v3/classifications/employees/{id}`

Get details about an existing employee.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required — BILL-generated ID of the employee. The value begins with `emp`.

## Headers

- `sessionId` string, nullable — API session ID generated with `/v3/login`
- `devKey` string, nullable — Developer key generated with your BILL developer account

## Response `200`

Get employee details response

- ClassificationEmployeeResponseDto — ClassificationEmployee response Dto.
  - `id` string — BILL-generated ID of the employee. The value begins with `emp`.
  - `firstName` string — Employee first name
  - `lastName` string — Employee last name
  - `shortName` string — Employee short name
  - `parentId` string — BILL-generated ID of the parent employee. You can set this field if this employee is a child object.
  - `archived` boolean — Set as `true` if the employee is archived
  - `createdTime` string, date-time — Created date and time
  - `updatedTime` string, date-time — Updated date and time
