# GET /#Action=DescribeEventCategories

`GET /#Action=DescribeEventCategories`

Displays a list of categories for all event source types, or, if specified, for a specified source type. You can also see this list in the "Amazon RDS event categories and event messages" section of the <a href="https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/USER_Events.Messages.html"> <i>Amazon RDS User Guide</i> </a> or the <a href="https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/AuroraUserGuide/USER_Events.Messages.html"> <i>Amazon Aurora User Guide</i> </a>.

## Query parameters

- `SourceType` string
- `Filters` object[]
  - `Name` string, required — The name of the filter. Filter names are case-sensitive.
  - `Values` string[], required — One or more filter values. Filter values are case-sensitive.
- `Action` 'DescribeEventCategories', required
- `Version` '2014-10-31', required
