# Add an object to a collection

`PUT /collections/{collection_id}/items`

Adding the same object twice is a no-op rather than a duplicate. A pinned collection refuses anything but its own type, and an object that does not exist is refused rather than stored as a dangling id.

  - `object_type` string — Type of the object

## Response `200`

Confirmation the object was added

- `401` — HTTP 401 Unauthorized (error 4701).
- `403` — HTTP 403 Forbidden (errors 4700, 4703, 4742).
- `404` — HTTP 404 Not Found (error 4704).
- `500` — HTTP 500 Internal Server Error (error 4702).
