# POST /tokenize

`POST /tokenize`

## Request body

- Tokenize — tokenize is a command that encrypts text with a tokenizer
  - `json` boolean — Set output format to JSON
  - `plaintext` string, required — Data to be encrypted
  - `token` string — Authentication token (see `/auth` and `/configure`)
  - `tokenizer-name` string, required — The name of the tokenizer to use in the encryption process
  - `tweak` string — Base64 encoded tweak for vaultless encryption
  - `uid-token` string — The universal identity token, Required only for universal_identity authentication

## Response `200`

tokenizeResponse wraps response body.

- TokenizeOutput
  - `result` string
  - `tweak` string

## Other responses

- `default` — errorResponse wraps any error to return it as a JSON object with one "error" field.
