# POST /encrypt

`POST /encrypt`

## Request body

- Encrypt
  - `display-id` string — The display id of the key to use in the encryption process
  - `encryption-context` object — name-value pair that specifies the encryption context to be used for authenticated encryption. If used here, the same value must be supplied to the decrypt command or decryption will fail
  - `input-format` string — Select default assumed format for any plaintext input. Currently supported options: [base64]
  - `item-id` integer — The item id of the key to use in the encryption process
  - `json` boolean — Set output format to JSON
  - `key-name` string, required — The name of the key to use in the encryption process
  - `plaintext` string — Data to be encrypted
  - `token` string — Authentication token (see `/auth` and `/configure`)
  - `uid-token` string — The universal identity token, Required only for universal_identity authentication
  - `version` integer — key version (relevant only for classic key)

## Response `200`

encryptResponse wraps response body.

- EncryptOutput
  - `result` string

## Other responses

- `default` — errorResponse wraps any error to return it as a JSON object with one "error" field.
